National Seminar on "Making Growth Inclusive

National Seminar on the theme: "Making Growth Inclusive with reference to Marginalised Sections: Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Women" to be held in Hyderabad from 15th to 16th February, 2007.

Call for Papers
Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad and Indian Institute of Advanced Study(IIAS), Shimla are jointly organizing a National Seminarduring 15-16 February, 2007. The theme is "Making Growth Inclusive with reference to Marginalised Sections: Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Women". This is being organised in view of launching the country's 11th Five Year Plan seeking Faster and More Inclusive Growth from the next year (i.e., 2007-08). In current approach to planning, "inclusive economic growth" is intended to occupy center-stage. Inclusive economic growth would mean, more access to all developmental programmes for groups that have limited access now. A genuine inclusive policy will require a combination of a compensatory policy (for particular social groups) and a pro poor policy (covering all irrespective of caste, religion or gender background).

The Seminar provides a forum for academicians, researchers and policy makers to address the resulting profound challenges and to present and discuss their new ideas, research results and experience on all aspects of marginalized sections of the population in India.
